Ayurveda

Ayurveda is India's classical system of medicine, set out in texts such as the Charaka Samhita and the Sushruta Samhita. It understands health through three doshas — vata, pitta and kapha — and the balance between them, which differs from one person to the next.

How an Ayurvedic assessment works

  • A full history — health, medicines, reports and daily routine
  • Pulse examination, known as nadi pariksha
  • Examination of the tongue, eyes and skin
  • Questions about digestion, sleep and appetite
  • An assessment of your constitution, or prakriti
