Siddha
Siddha is the traditional medicine of Tamil Nadu, handed down through the Siddhars and written largely in Tamil. It shares ideas with Ayurveda — the three humours, vatham, pitham and kapham — but has its own methods of diagnosis and its own preparations.
The eight-fold examination
A Siddha physician examines eight signs, known as envagai thervu: the pulse, tongue, colour, voice, eyes, touch, urine and stools.
