Wooden instrument used for Paadha Guasa
Physician-prescribed care

Paadha Guasa

Paadha Guasa is Swasi's signature therapy, developed and taught by our founder, Dr. R.K. Akshayan. A shaped wooden instrument is worked over specific points on the sole of the foot. A standard session takes about 40 minutes.

What happens in a session

  1. 1

    Examination

The physician checks your feet and whether the therapy is suitable for you.

  2. 2

    Preparation

Your feet are cleansed, and you sit or lie comfortably.

  3. 3

    The session

About 40 minutes. The instrument is worked over points on the sole, and the pressure is adjusted to your comfort.

  4. 4

    Afterwards

[Aftercare instructions to be confirmed.] The physician tells you whether further sittings are planned.

Standard and extended protocols

Standard session

About 40 minutes. The form most patients receive.

Extended protocol

A longer course of sittings, where the physician prescribes it after examination.

Paadha Guasa is not performed if you have

  • Broken, blistered or ulcerated skin on the foot

  • [Further contraindications confirmed by the founder]

Who performs it

Every Paadha Guasa session at Swasi is performed by a practitioner trained in the method, following the protocol set by our founder.
